Death
of Sellers Chimpanzee
The
death of Sellers Chimpanzee cannot be fully documented because Sellers
died at Emory University's Yerkes Primate Center. Emory University
is a private school and although it accepts your tax dollars, Emory
refuses to answer to the public about animal experiments. The National
Institutes of Health awards your tax dollars to Emory but also refuses
to help the public obtain information.
In
2001, Yerkes' whistleblowers stated Sellers Chimpanzee was being
used in a gout experiment when he was found dead with his head wedged
between the bed board and the back of the metabolism cage wall.
Sellers was anesthetized in the morning and kept under for 2 hours.
He was again anesthetized that same afternoon.
Yerkes
Primate Center, an entity that claims to be experts in this field,
cannot determine when Sellers died.
Although
Yerkes claimed Sellers had a heart condition, the USDA issued an
"Official Warning, Violation of Federal Regulation" in
the case of Sellers citing negligence from a "failure to provide
primary enclosures constructed and maintained so that they protect
the non-human primates from injury."
Unfortunately,
Yerkes received only a warning in this incident--like so many other
times primates have been killed by negligence.
Read
the USDA/APHIS citations and documents.
Rest
In Peace Sellers knowing your kinsmen are working for the release
of your family.
