UW’s PIO Goes Too
Far.
Suit Filed for False Statements.
Madison--When do opinions go too far? A Madison court will soon
answer that in response to a suit filed last week against the University
of Wisconsin and its Public Information Officer, Jordana Lenon.
At the center of the storm is the Wisconsin National Primate Research
Center, the epicenter of disgust for animal rights activists like
Rick Bogle, former educator, Peace Corps volunteer and founder of
the Primate Freedom Project. Bogle has long worked against the cruel
and inhumane activities taking place inside the WNPRC and the Harlow
Lab but has never broken the law at protests. Bogle is now upset
about untrue comments made by Jordana Lenon, the public information
officer for the University of Wisconsin. Lenon has even contacted
the Dane County Executive and Board of Supervisors, spreading her
own brand of untruths to thwart the activities of Bogle such as
the opening of the National Primate Research Exhibition Hall.
Lenon’s comments cited in the suit are:
…….the violence it encourages and the illegal acts
Mr. Rick Bogle, in particular, has been associated with at our Primate
Center ….
Lenon goes on to attack Bogle’s reputation stating:
He was very careful not to get arrested himself, but rather
to recruit minors to do his dirty work
The suit comments that Bogle has never been arrested for any of
the activities Lenon accuses him of neither has there been any investigation
by law enforcement into Lenon’s claims.
Bogle has lived in Madison less than a year and is spearheading
the construction of the National Primate Research Exhibition Hall
to educate children and adults about medical research.
