Alamogordo Primate Facility Information about Hercules Chimpanzee, id# 1046, was obtained thru a FOIA request to DHHS. PFP seeks more information about all primates held captive and will post it on these pages when received. We welcome your information concerning them too. Hercules was born October 9, 1978 and was euthanized October 5, 2004 'due to severe hepatocellular carcinoma. Also had evidence of chronic interstital nephritis and heart disease. Complete histology is pending". This info from the report filed on Hercules in October 2004. Alamogordo reports as of October 2004, with the dead of Hercules, APF has 260 chimpanzees in its colony.
